Official Session 1 Registration Timeline
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially opened the online application window for JEE Main Session 1 on the official portal at jeemain.nta.nic.in.
The regular registration window remains open until 22 November 2026 (11:50 PM). Candidates who miss the regular deadline can apply during the late-fee window from 23 to 26 November 2026. An application correction window will open from 27 to 29 November 2026 to resolve discrepancies in particulars or uploaded documents.
The Computer-Based Test (CBT) for Session 1 will be conducted across multiple shifts between 20 January and 28 January 2027. Registration for Session 2 will open separately on 5 January 2027.
- Online Registration Start: 24 October 2026 (Live on jeemain.nta.nic.in)
- Last Date to Apply (Regular Fee): 22 November 2026 (11:50 PM)
- Late Fee Window (₹500 extra): 23 to 26 November 2026
- Application Correction Window: 27 to 29 November 2026

DigiLocker and ABC ID Authentication Mandate
NTA strongly advises candidates to register and log in using DigiLocker or Academic Bank of Credits (ABC ID). Authenticating through government digital identity ensures smooth biometric verification at the examination center and prevents identity mismatch issues.
Ensure that your name, parent names, and date of birth match your Class 10 certificate and government identity card verbatim. If you use non-Aadhaar login, you must report to the examination center earlier on test day for biometric recording.
Paper 1 Pattern & Negative Marking in Section B
Paper 1 for B.E. and B.Tech consists of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Each subject contains Section A (20 mandatory MCQs) and Section B (10 numerical questions, where candidates attempt any 5).
Important marking rule: NTA enforces negative marking of -1 mark for every incorrect answer in both Section A (MCQs) AND Section B (Numerical value questions). Guesswork in numerical questions can severely reduce your percentile.
- Mathematics: 20 MCQs + 5/10 Numerical (100 Marks)
- Physics: 20 MCQs + 5/10 Numerical (100 Marks)
- Chemistry: 20 MCQs + 5/10 Numerical (100 Marks)
- Total Marks: 300 Marks (75 questions attempted, +4 for correct, -1 for wrong)
Clearing numerical doubts with Doubtclip whiteboard videos
The primary difference between a 95 percentile and a 99 percentile in JEE Main is error control in Section B numericals. When solving mock test numericals in electrodynamics, rotational mechanics, or physical chemistry, avoid jumping straight to written answer keys.
Photograph the exact step where your formula or algebraic substitution stalled. Doubtclip generates a short whiteboard video breakdown showing the physical law behind that transition, helping you solve similar numericals independently.
FAQ
Can I apply for Session 1 and Session 2 together?
Yes, candidates can register and pay fees for both sessions at once, or register for Session 1 now and apply for Session 2 when its portal reopens in January.
Is DigiLocker mandatory for JEE Main registration?
DigiLocker and ABC ID are the fastest and preferred authentication methods, though candidates can also register via non-Aadhaar options with earlier reporting for physical biometric verification.
Do Section B numerical value questions carry negative marking?
Yes, both Section A (MCQs) and Section B (Numerical value questions) incur a penalty of -1 mark for each incorrect response.
