Question 27 of 153

The arm PQPQ of a rectangular conductor is moving from x=0x=0 to x=2bx=2b outwards and then inwards from x=2bx=2b to x=0x=0 as shown in the figure. A uniform magnetic field perpendicular to the plane is acting from x=0x=0 to x=b.x=b. Identify the graph showing the variation of different quantities with distance:

Show answer and solution

Answer: (C) AA—Flux, B—EMFB—EMF, CC—Power dissipated

As rod moves in field area increases upto x=bx=b, then field is absent and again flux is generated on return journey from x=bx=b to x=0x=0. Thus plot AA for flux.
⇒e=−dϕdt⇒\Rightarrow e=-\dfrac{d\phi }{dt}\Rightarrow curve BB for emfemf
⇒\Rightarrow Power dissipated =vi⇒=vi\Rightarrow curve CC for power dissipated
