Question 34 of 276

A regular polygon of 66 sides is formed by bending a wire of length 4π4\pi meter. If an electric current of 4π3A4\pi \sqrt{3}A is flowing through the sides of the polygon, the magnetic field at the centre of the polygon would be x×10−7T.x\times {10}^{-7}T. The value of xx is ______.

Show answer and solution

Answer: 72

Direction of magnetic field due to all six sides will be in the same direction, therefore we can write

B=6(μ0I4πr)(sin⁡30∘+sin⁡30∘)B=6\left(\dfrac{{\mu }_{0}I}{4\pi r}\right)\left(\sin 30^{\circ}+\sin 30^{\circ}\right), where r=r=distance of the sides from the centre.
=610−7×4π3(π3×3)=6\dfrac{{10}^{-7}\times 4\pi \sqrt{3}}{\left(\dfrac{\pi }{3}\times \sqrt{3}\right)}
=72×10−7T=72\times {10}^{-7}T
Hence,
x=72x=72.
