Question 168 of 276

A particle of charge 16×10−16C16 \times 10^{-16} \mathrm{C} moving with velocity 10 ms−110 \mathrm{~ms}^{-1} along xx-axis enters a region where magnetic field of induction
B⃗\vec{B} is along the yy-axis and an electric field of magnitude 104Vm−110^4 \mathrm{Vm}^{-1} is along the negative zz-axis.
If the charged particle continues moving along
xx-axis, the magnitude of B⃗\vec{B} is :

Show answer and solution

Answer: (C) 1×103 Wb m−21 \times 10^3 \mathrm{~Wb} \mathrm{~m}^{-2}

Since particle is moving undeflected
So,
qE=qvBq_E=q v B
⇒B=EV=10410=103wb/m2\Rightarrow B=\frac{E}{V}=\frac{10^4}{10}=10^3 \mathrm{wb} / \mathrm{m}^2
