Question 247 of 276

A wire of length 314cm314cm carrying current of 14A14A is bent to form a circle. The magnetic moment of the coil is A−m2A-{m}^{2}. [Given π=3.14\pi =3.14]

Show answer and solution

Answer: 11

Length of the wire
ll when bent becomes circumference of the loop, whose radius is given by R=l2π=314100(2×3.14)=12mR=\dfrac{l}{2\pi }=\dfrac{314}{100\left(2\times 3.14\right)}=\dfrac{1}{2}m
Magnetic moment of the coil is
M=IAM=IA
=14×πR2=14\times \pi {R}^{2}
=14×(3.14)×14=14\times \left(3.14\right)\times \dfrac{1}{4}
=10.99≈11.00A−m2=10.99\approx 11.00A-{m}^{2}
