Question 156 of 192

A capillary tube (A)(\mathrm{A}) is dropped in water. Another identical tube (B)(\mathrm{B}) is dipped in a soap water solution. Which of the following shows the relative nature of the liquid columns in the two tubes?

Show answer and solution

Answer: (C)

Capillary rise h=2 Tcos⁡θρgr\mathrm{h}=\frac{2 \mathrm{~T} \cos \theta}{\rho \mathrm{gr}}. As soap solution has lower T,h\mathrm{T}, \mathrm{h} will be low.
