Capacitors

JEE Main level, numerical answer, medium

39 of 180

Question 39 of 180

The equivalent capacitance between points AA and BB in below shown figure will be _____ μF\mu F.

Show answer and solution

Answer: 6

Point
33 and 44 are at same potential, hence we can replace the capacitor with a wire.

Capacitors between points
AA and 33 are in parallel combination as shown above and their combined capacitance value will be 3C3C.
This
3C3C capacitance is in series with CC.
The equivalent capacitance of the system between points A and B is,

CAB=3C×C3C+C=3C4{C}_{AB}=\dfrac{3C\times C}{3C+C}=\dfrac{3C}{4}
⇒CAB=34×8μF=6μF\Rightarrow {C}_{AB}=\dfrac{3}{4}\times 8\mu F=6\mu F
