Capacitors

JEE Main level, single correct, medium

61 of 180

Question 61 of 180

Three capacitors each of 4μF4\mu F are to be connected in such a way that the effective capacitance is 6μF6\mu F. This can be done by connecting them

Show answer and solution

Answer: (D) two in series and one in parallel

For top branch,

1Ceq=14+14\dfrac{1}{{C}_{eq}}=\dfrac{1}{4}+\dfrac{1}{4}

⇒Ceq=2μF\Rightarrow {C}_{eq}=2\mu F

For parallel combination,
Cnet=2+4=6μF{C}_{net}=2+4=6\mu F
