Question 51 of 165

Given below are two statements :
Statement I : Electromagnetic waves are not deflected by electric and magnetic field.

Statement II : The amplitude of electric field and the magnetic field in electromagnetic waves are related to each other as
E0=μ0ϵ0B0{E}_{0}=\sqrt{\dfrac{{\mu }_{0}}{{\epsilon }_{0}}}{B}_{0}.
In the light of the above statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below:

Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) Statement I is true but statement II is false

Statement-I is correct as Electromagnetic waves are neutral.
Statement-II is wrong as

c=E0B0⇒1μ0ϵ0=E0B0⇒E0=1μ0ϵ0B0c=\dfrac{{E}_{0}}{{B}_{0}} \Rightarrow \dfrac{1}{\sqrt{{\mu }_{0}{\epsilon }_{0}}}=\dfrac{{E}_{0}}{{B}_{0}} \Rightarrow {E}_{0}=\sqrt{\dfrac{1}{{\mu }_{0}{\epsilon }_{0}}}{B}_{0}
