Question 78 of 165

A linearly polarised electromagnetic wave in vacuum is E=3.1cos⁡[(1.8)z−(5.4×106)t]i^NC−1E=3.1\cos \left[\left(1.8\right)z-\left(5.4\times {10}^{6}\right)t\right]\hat{i}N{C}^{-1} is incident normally on a perfectly reflecting wall at z=az=a. Choose the correct option.

Show answer and solution

Answer: (D) The reflected wave will be
3.1cos⁡[(1.8)z+(5.4×106)t]i^NC−13.1\cos \left[\left(1.8\right)z+\left(5.4\times {10}^{6}\right)t\right]\hat{i}N{C}^{-1}.

Reflected wave will have direction opposite to incident wave.
