Question 82 of 165

A plane electromagnetic wave of frequency 100MHz100MHz is traveling in a vacuum along the x−x-direction. At a particular point in space and time, B⃗=2.0×10−8k^T⋅\vec{B}=2.0\times {10}^{-8}\hat{k}T\cdot (where, k^\hat{k} is unit vector along z−z-direction) What is E⃗\vec{E} at this point?

Show answer and solution

Answer: (C) 6.0j^Vm−16.0\hat{j}V{m}^{-1}

E=BC=6E=BC=6. (Direction of the wave) ‖(E⃗×B⃗)‖(\vec{E}\times \vec{B})⇒i^=j^×k^\Rightarrow \hat{i}=\hat{j}\times \hat{k}
⇒E⃗=6j^Vm−1\Rightarrow \vec{E}=6\hat{j}V{m}^{-1}
