Question 92 of 165

The electric field of a plane electromagnetic wave is given by E⃗=E0(x^+y^)sin⁡(kz−ωt)\vec{E}={E}_{0}\left(\hat{x}+\hat{y}\right)\sin \left(kz-\omega t\right). Its magnetic field will be given by

Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) E0c(−x^+y^)sin⁡(kz−ωt)\dfrac{{E}_{0}}{c}\left(-\hat{x}+\hat{y}\right)\sin \left(kz-\omega t\right)

As in electromagnetic wave electric field is always perpendicular to the magnetic field and both the fields oscillates perpendicularly to the direction pf propagation so E⃗×B⃗‖C⃗\vec{E}\times \vec{B}‖\vec{C}
