Question 80 of 121

The maximum error in the measurement of resistance, current and time for which current flows in an electrical circuit are 11%,2% and 33% respectively. The maximum percentage error in the detection of the dissipated heat will be:

Show answer and solution

Answer: (D) 88

Heat generated through resistance is given by, H=i2RtH={i}^{2}Rt
Therefore, the percentage error in the calculation can be found by,

⇒ΔHH×100=2×Δii×100+ΔRR×100+Δtt×100\Rightarrow \dfrac{\Delta H}{H}\times 100=2\times \dfrac{\Delta i}{i}\times 100+\dfrac{\Delta R}{R}\times 100+\dfrac{\Delta t}{t}\times 100
⇒ΔHH×100=4\Rightarrow \dfrac{\Delta H}{H}\times 100=4%+1%+3%
⇒ΔHH×100=8\Rightarrow \dfrac{\Delta H}{H}\times 100=8%
