Question 74 of 308

A ball is thrown from a point with a speed v0v_0 at an angle of projection θ\theta. From the same point and at the same instant person starts running with a constant speed v0/2v_0 / 2 to catch the ball. Will the person be able to catch the ball? If yes, what should be the angle of projection?

Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) yes, 60∘60^{\circ}

v0cos⁡θ=v02\mathrm{v}_0 \cos \theta=\frac{\mathrm{v}_0}{2}
⇒θ=60∘\Rightarrow \theta=60^{\circ}
