Question 234 of 308

The maximum vertical height to which a man can throw a ball is 136m136m. The maximum horizontal distance upto which he can throw the same ball is

Show answer and solution

Answer: (C) 272m272m

Maximum height is achieved when the projection is along the vertical direction,
Hmax=v22g=136m{H}_{max}=\dfrac{{v}^{2}}{2g}=136m
Now, for maximum range, angle of projection should be
45∘45^{\circ}. Therefore,
Rmax=v2g=2Hmax{R}_{max}=\dfrac{{v}^{2}}{g} =2{H}_{max}
=2(136)=2\left(136\right)
=272m=272m
