Question 249 of 308

The ranges and heights for two projectiles projected with the same initial velocity at angles 42∘42^{\circ} and 48∘48^{\circ} with the horizontal are R1,R2{R}_{1},{R}_{2} and H1,H2{H}_{1},{H}_{2} respectively. Choose the correct option:

Show answer and solution

Answer: (B) R1=R2{R}_{1}={R}_{2} and H1<H2{H}_{1}\lt {H}_{2}

RangeR=u2sin⁡2θgR=\dfrac{{u}^{2}\sin 2\theta }{g} and same for θ\theta and 90−θ90-\theta. So, same for 42∘42^{\circ} and 48∘48^{\circ} Maximum height H=u2sin⁡2θ2gH=\dfrac{{u}^{2}{\sin }^{2}\theta }{2g}, so height is high for higher θ\theta. So, HH for 48∘48^{\circ} is higher than HH for 42∘42^{\circ}.
