Question 286 of 308

A vehicle of mass 200kg200kg is moving along a levelled curved road of radius 70m70m with angular velocity of 0.2rads−10.2rad{s}^{-1}. The centripetal force acting on the vehicle is:

Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) 560N560N

The centripetal force is given by
F=Mv2R=MRω2F=\dfrac{M{v}^{2}}{R}=MR{\omega }^{2}
The given data is

M=200kgR=70mω=0.2rads−1M=200kg R=70m \omega =0.2rad{s}^{-1}
The magnitude of the force is

F=200×70×0.22NF=200\times 70\times 0.{2}^{2}N
⇒F=560N\Rightarrow F=560N
