Question 8 of 295

Two vertical parallel mirrors AA and BB are separated by 1010 cm. AA point object OO is placed at a distance of 2cm2cm from mirror A.A. The distance of the second nearest image behind mirror AA from the mirror AA is _______cm.

Show answer and solution

Answer: 18

As can be seen from the image above, object distance is
8cm8cm [For image by BB]
In a plane mirror the image distance is equal to the object distance. Thus, the required distance is

8+8+2cm=18cm8+8+2cm=18cm
