for convex lense,
1V+120=15\dfrac{1}{V}+\dfrac{1}{20}=\dfrac{1}{5}

1V=15−120=4−120\dfrac{1}{V}=\dfrac{1}{5}-\dfrac{1}{20}=\dfrac{4-1}{20}

V1=203{V}_{1}=\dfrac{20}{3} cm
for concave lense,

Distance of first image from B=203−2=143cmB=\dfrac{20}{3}-2=\dfrac{14}{3}cm

1V−314=−15=15−1470=170\dfrac{1}{V}-\dfrac{3}{14}=-\dfrac{1}{5}=\dfrac{15-14}{70}=\dfrac{1}{70}
