Question 279 of 295

Given below are two statements : one is labeled as Assertion AA and the other is labeled as Reason RR.
Assertion
AA: For a simple microscope, the angular size of the object equals the angular size of the image.
Reason
RR: Magnification is achieved as the small object can be kept much closer to the eye than 25cm25cm and hence it subtends a large angle. In the light of the above statements, choose the most appropriate answer from the options given below:

Show answer and solution

Answer: (D) Both AA and RR are true and RR is the correct explanation of AA

θ′=hu0;θ′{\theta }^{'}=\dfrac{h}{{u}_{0}};{\theta }^{'} is same for both object and image
m=θ′θ=Dμ0m=\dfrac{{\theta }^{'}}{\theta }=\dfrac{D}{{\mu }_{0}}
u0<D{u}_{0}\lt D
Hence
m>1m\gt 1
