Question 145 of 190

For the given cyclic process CABCAB as shown for a gas, the work done is:

Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) 10J10J

The work done in a cyclic process is equal to the area of closed P-V curve cycle.
Work done,
W=W= Area of ∆CAB∆CAB
⇒W=12×AB×AC\Rightarrow W=\dfrac{1}{2}\times AB\times AC=12×(6−1)×(5−1)=10J=\dfrac{1}{2}\times (6-1)\times (5-1)=10J
In the given P-V graph, the process is clockwise. So, the work done will be positive which means that the system is doing the work.
