Question 95 of 191

In a Young's double slit experiment 1515 fringes are observed on a small portion of the screen when light of wavelength 500nm500nm is used. Ten fringes are observed on the same section of the screen when another light source of wavelength λ\lambda is used. Then the value of λ\lambda is (in nmnm ) __________.

Show answer and solution

Answer: 750

15×500×Dd=10×λ2×Dd15\times 500\times \dfrac{D}{d}=10\times {\lambda }_{2}\times \dfrac{D}{d}
λ2=15×50nm{\lambda }_{2}=15\times 50nm
λ2=750nm{\lambda }_{2}=750nm
