Question 37 of 142

Which of the following equations represents a travelling wave?

Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) y=Asin⁡(15x−2t)y=A\sin \left(15x-2t\right)

The given function should be in the form of f(x±vt)f\left(x\pm vt\right).
So, for travelling wave
yy should be linear function of xx and ttand should be finite and continuous for all values of tt.
y=Asin⁡(15x−2t)→y=A\sin \left(15x-2t\right)\rightarrow linear function in xx and tt.
