Question 3 of 4

If f(x)=2x+3f(x) = 2x + 3 is a bijective function from R→R\mathbb{R} \to \mathbb{R}, its inverse f−1(x)f^{-1}(x) is:

Show answer and solution

Answer: (B) x−32\frac{x-3}{2}

y=2x+3  ⟹  2x=y−3  ⟹  x=y−32  ⟹  f−1(x)=x−32y = 2x + 3 \implies 2x = y - 3 \implies x = \frac{y-3}{2} \implies f^{-1}(x) = \frac{x-3}{2}.
