Alternating Current

JEE Main level, single correct, medium

Question 82 of 190

In the given circuit, rmsrms value of current (Irms)\left({I}_{rms}\right) through the resistor RR is :

Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) 2A2A

Impedance of the given LCR circuit will be,
Z=R2+(XL−XC)2⇒Z=1002+(200−100)2Z=\sqrt{{R}^{2}+{\left({X}_{L}-{X}_{C}\right)}^{2}} \Rightarrow Z=\sqrt{{100}^{2}+{\left(200-100\right)}^{2}}
=1002Ω=100\sqrt{2}\Omega
Therefore, RMS current can be written as,

Irms=VrmsZ=20021002{I}_{rms}=\dfrac{{V}_{rms}}{Z}=\dfrac{200\sqrt{2}}{100\sqrt{2}}
=2A=2A
