Alternating Current

JEE Main level, single correct, medium

Question 96 of 190

To increase the resonant frequency in series LCR circuit,

Show answer and solution

Answer: (C) Another capacitor should be added in series with the first capacitor

The resonant frequency of an LCR circuit is given by f=12πLCf=\dfrac{1}{2\pi \sqrt{LC}}. It does not depend on the source frequency as well as the resistance of the circuit.
Therefore, to increase the resonating frequency product of
LL and CC should decrease.
By joining another capacitor in series, the equivalent capacitor will decrease.

Hence, option C is correct option.
