Question 119 of 190

An L.C.R.L.C.R. circuit contains resistance of 110Ω110\Omega and a supply of 220V220V at 300rads−1300rad{s}^{-1} angular frequency. If only capacitance is removed from the circuit, current lags behind the voltage by 45∘45^{\circ}. If on the other hand, the only the inductor is removed the current leads by 45∘45^{\circ} with the applied voltage. The R.M.S.R.M.S. current flowing in the circuit will be:

Show answer and solution

Answer: (B) 2A2A

tan⁡45∘=1ωCR=ωLR⇒XL=XC\tan 45^{\circ}=\dfrac{1}{\omega CR}=\dfrac{\omega L}{R}\Rightarrow {X}_{L}={X}_{C}
⇒\Rightarrow resonance
i=VRi=\dfrac{V}{R}
=220110=2A=\dfrac{220}{110}=2A
