Question 154 of 190

In a series LCR circuit R=200ΩR=200 \Omega and the voltage and the frequency of the main supply is 220 V220 \mathrm{~V} and 50 Hz50 \mathrm{~Hz} respectively. On taking out the capacitance from the circuit the current lags behind the voltage by 30∘30^{\circ}. On taking out the inductor from the circuit the current leads the voltage by 30∘30^{\circ}. The power dissipated in the LCR circuit is

Show answer and solution

Answer: (D) 242 W242 \mathrm{~W}

The given circuit is under resonance as XL=XCX_L=X_C Hence power dissipated in the circuit is
P=V2R=242 W\mathrm{P}=\frac{\mathrm{V}^2}{\mathrm{R}}=242 \mathrm{~W}
