Question 42 of 239

An electron revolving in nth{n}^{\text{th}} Bohr orbit has magnetic moment μn{\mu }_{n}. If μn∝nx{\mu }_{n}\propto {n}^{x}, the value of xx is:

Show answer and solution

Answer: (B) 11

Magnetic moment of electron is given by, μn=ehn4πme{\mu }_{n}=\dfrac{ehn}{4\pi {m}_{e}}.
Clearly,
μn∝n1{\mu }_{n}\propto {n}^{1}. Therefore, x=1x=1.
