Question 134 of 200

If a source of electromagnetic radiation having power 15kW15kW produces 1016{10}^{16} photons per second, the radiation belongs to a part of spectrum is :
(Take Planck constant
h=6×10−34Js)h=6\times {10}^{-34}Js)

Show answer and solution

Answer: (C) Gamma rays

As energy of one photon is given by E=PowerPhotonfrequencyE=\dfrac{Power}{Photonfrequency}
Or,
E=hν=15×1031016E=h\nu =\dfrac{15\times {10}^{3}}{{10}^{16}}
So, frequency of ray is
ν=15×10−136×10−34=2.5×1021Hz\nu =\dfrac{15\times {10}^{-13}}{6\times {10}^{-34}}=2.5\times {10}^{21}Hz.
Thus, the radiation belongs to gamma rays.
