Kinetic Theory

JEE Main level, single correct, medium

135 of 168

Question 135 of 168

The average kinetic energy of a molecule of the gas is

Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) proportional to absolute temperature

The average kinetic energy of a molecule of the gas =32RT=\dfrac{3}{2}RT.
Average kinetic energy of one molecule of gas
=32kT(k=RNA)=\dfrac{3}{2}kT(k=\dfrac{R}{{N}_{A}})
Where
kk is Boltzmann constant and TT is absolute temperature.
So, from above relation we can say average kinetic energy of molecule is directly proportional to absolute temperature.
