Acceleration of the system can be written as, a=(m1−m2)g(m1+m2)=g8a=\dfrac{\left({m}_{1}-{m}_{2}\right)g}{\left({m}_{1}+{m}_{2}\right)}=\dfrac{g}{8}
⇒8m1−8m2=m1+m2\Rightarrow 8{m}_{1}-8{m}_{2}={m}_{1}+{m}_{2}
⇒7m1=9m2\Rightarrow 7{m}_{1}=9{m}_{2}
⇒m1m2=97\Rightarrow \dfrac{{m}_{1}}{{m}_{2}}=\dfrac{9}{7}
