Question 94 of 210

A mass of 10kg10kg is suspended vertically by a rope of length 5m5m from the roof. A force of 30N30N is applied at the middle point of rope in horizontal direction. The angle made by upper half of the rope with vertical is α=tan⁡−1(x×10−1)\alpha ={\tan }^{-1}\left(x\times {10}^{-1}\right). The value of xx is _____ .
(Given,
g=10ms−2g=10m{s}^{-2})

Show answer and solution

Answer: 3

⇒Tsin⁡θ=100\Rightarrow T\sin \theta =100 and Tcos⁡θ=30T\cos \theta =30
Therefore,
tan⁡θ=103\tan \theta =\dfrac{10}{3}
Then,
tan⁡α=310⇒α=tan⁡−1(3×10−1)\tan \alpha =\dfrac{3}{10}\Rightarrow \alpha ={\tan }^{-1}\left(3\times {10}^{-1}\right)
Hence, value of
x=3x=3.
