Question 102 of 210

A mass of 10kg10kg is suspended vertically by a rope from the roof. When a horizontal force is applied on the rope at some point, the rope deviated at an angle of 45∘45^{\circ} at the roof point. If the suspended mass is at equilibrium, the magnitude of the force applied is (g=10ms−2)\left(g=10m{s}^{-2}\right)

Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) 100N100N

Tcos⁡⁡45∘=mgT\cos ⁡45^{\circ}=mg

Tsin⁡⁡45∘=FT\sin ⁡45^{\circ}=F

tan45∘=Fmgtan45^{\circ}=\dfrac{F}{mg}

F=mg=100NF=mg=100N
