Question 121 of 210

A spring whose unstrentches length is ll has a force constant k.k. The spring is cut into two pieces of unstretches lengths l1{l}_{1} and l2{l}_{2} where, l1=nl2{l}_{1}=n{l}_{2} and nn is an integer. The ratio k1/k2{k}_{1}/{k}_{2} of the corresponding force constants, k1{k}_{1} and k2{k}_{2} will be:

Show answer and solution

Answer: (D) 1n\dfrac{1}{n}

Spring constants of the spring will be inversely proportional to length.
k1k2=l2l1=1n\dfrac{{k}_{1}}{{k}_{2}}=\dfrac{{l}_{2}}{{l}_{1}}=\dfrac{1}{n}
