Question 71 of 126

A calorimeter of water equivalent 20g20g contains 180g180g of water at 25∘C25^{\circ}C. m′′m''' grams of steam at 100∘C100^{\circ}C is mixed in it till the temperature of the mixture is 31∘C31^{\circ}C. The value of m′′m'' is close to (Latent heat of water=540calg−1=540cal{g}^{-1}, specific heat of water=1calg−1∘C−1=1cal{g}^{-1^{\circ}}{C}^{-1})

Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) 22

(200)(31−25)=m×540+m(1)(69)\left(200\right)\left(31-25\right)=m\times 540+m\left(1\right)\left(69\right)
1200=m(609)1200=m\left(609\right)
m≈2m\approx 2
