Question 1 of 2

If P(A)=0.4P(A) = 0.4, P(B)=0.8P(B) = 0.8, and P(B∣A)=0.6P(B|A) = 0.6, then P(A∪B)P(A \cup B) is:

Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) 0.960.96

P(A∩B)=P(B∣A)P(A)=0.6×0.4=0.24P(A \cap B) = P(B|A) P(A) = 0.6 \times 0.4 = 0.24. Then P(A∪B)=P(A)+P(B)−P(A∩B)=0.4+0.8−0.24=0.96P(A \cup B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A \cap B) = 0.4 + 0.8 - 0.24 = 0.96.
