Question 2 of 380

In the given meter bridge setup, null point is found at distance l=40 cml = 40\,\text{cm} from end AA. If the known standard resistor is S=6 ΩS = 6\,\Omega, the value of the unknown resistance RR in the left gap is:

Answer: (C) 4 Ω4\,\Omega

Using meter bridge principle: RS=l100−l=4060=23  ⟹  R=23×6=4 Ω\frac{R}{S} = \frac{l}{100-l} = \frac{40}{60} = \frac{2}{3} \implies R = \frac{2}{3} \times 6 = 4\,\Omega.
