Question 3 of 3

If A=(1234)A = \begin{pmatrix} 1 & 2 \\ 3 & 4 \end{pmatrix}, then value of det⁡(A2)\det(A^2) is:

Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) 44

det⁡(A)=1(4)−2(3)=−2\det(A) = 1(4) - 2(3) = -2. det⁡(A2)=(det⁡A)2=(−2)2=4\det(A^2) = (\det A)^2 = (-2)^2 = 4.
