Question 2 of 3

If AA is a 3×33 \times 3 matrix such that det⁡(A)=4\det(A) = 4, then the value of det⁡(2A)\det(2A) is:

Show answer and solution

Answer: 32

For an n×nn \times n matrix, det⁡(kA)=kndet⁡(A)\det(kA) = k^n \det(A). Here n=3n=3, so det⁡(2A)=23det⁡(A)=8×4=32\det(2A) = 2^3 \det(A) = 8 \times 4 = 32.
