Question 58 of 239

The momentum of an electron revolving in nth{n}^{th} orbit is given by : (Symbols have their usual meanings)

Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) nh2πr\dfrac{nh}{2\pi r}

According to Bohr's postulates, angular momentum of an electron in an orbit is given by,
L=mvr=nh2πL=mvr=\dfrac{nh}{2\pi }
Therefore, linear momentum
p=Lr=nh2πrp=\dfrac{L}{r}=\dfrac{nh}{2\pi r}
