Question 87 of 130

A ball is dropped from a height of 20m20m. If the coefficient of restitution for the collision between ball and floor is 0.50.5, after hitting the floor, the ball rebounds to a height of ______ mm.

Show answer and solution

Answer: 5

As we know h′=e2h{h}^{'}={e}^{2}h, where h′={h}^{'}=height after the collision, h=h=height before the collision and e=e=coefficient of restitution.
Therefore,

h′=(0.5)2×20m=5m{h}^{'}={\left(0.5\right)}^{2}\times 20m=5m
