Question 57 of 380

A rectangular parallelopiped is measured as 1cm×1cm×100cm1cm\times 1cm\times 100cm. If its specific resistance is 3×10−7Ωm3\times {10}^{-7}\Omega m, then the resistance between its two opposite rectangular faces will be _____×10−7Ω\times {10}^{-7}\Omega.

Show answer and solution

Answer: 3

It is given that

l=1cm=0.01ml=1cm=0.01m
A=100cm×1cm=100cm2A=100cm\times 1cm=100{cm}^{2}
⇒A=0.01m2\Rightarrow A=0.01{m}^{2}
ρ=3×10−7Ωm\rho =3\times {10}^{-7}\Omega m
Using the formula of resistance,

R=ρlA=3×10−7×0.010.01=3×10−7ΩR=\dfrac{\rho l}{A}=\dfrac{3\times {10}^{-7}\times 0.01}{0.01}=3\times {10}^{-7}\Omega
