Question 117 of 380

If the potential difference between BB and DD is zero, the value of xx is 1nΩ\dfrac{1}{n}\Omega. The value of nn is ______.

Show answer and solution

Answer: 2

As potential difference between B & D is zero therefore it is a balanced wheatstone bridge. So, we can write

⇒R1R2=R3R4⇒(6×36+3)1+2=(x×1x+1)x\Rightarrow \dfrac{{R}_{1}}{{R}_{2}}=\dfrac{{R}_{3}}{{R}_{4}} \Rightarrow \dfrac{\left(\dfrac{6\times 3}{6+3}\right)}{1+2}=\dfrac{\left(\dfrac{x\times 1}{x+1}\right)}{x}
⇒23=1x+1\Rightarrow \dfrac{2}{3}=\dfrac{1}{x+1}
⇒x=0.5=12\Rightarrow x=0.5=\dfrac{1}{2}
Hence, required
n=2n=2.
