Current Electricity

JEE Main level, single correct, medium

125 of 380

Question 125 of 380

A current of 15mA15mA flows in the circuit as shown in figure. The value of potential difference between the points AA and BB will be

Show answer and solution

Answer: (D) 275V275V

Using current division rule,

Current,
i1=510+5×15mA=5mA{i}_{1}=\dfrac{5}{10+5}\times 15mA=5mA
Now, using Kirchhoff's voltage law- in lower loop,

VA−5i−10i1−10i=VB{V}_{A}-5i-10{i}_{1}-10i={V}_{B}
Potential difference between
AA and BB is VA−VB=75+50+150=275V{V}_{A}-{V}_{B}=75+50+150=275V
