Question 134 of 380

What will be the most suitable combination of three resistors A=2Ω,B=4Ω,C=6ΩA=2\Omega ,B=4\Omega ,C=6\Omega so that (223)Ω\left(\dfrac{22}{3}\right)\Omega is equivalent resistance of combination?

Show answer and solution

Answer: (B) Parallel combination of AA and BB connected in series with CC

If the
2Ω2\Omega resistance and the 4Ω4\Omega resistance are connected in parallel to each other, then R′=4×24+2=43Ω{R}^{'}=\dfrac{4\times 2}{4+2}=\dfrac{4}{3}\Omega. If the resistance of 6Ω6\Omega is now connected in series to the previous combination.
Req=2×42+4+6=223Ω{R}_{eq}=\dfrac{2\times 4}{2+4}+6=\dfrac{22}{3}\Omega
