Question 177 of 380

In the circuit diagram shown in figure given below, the current flowing through resistance 3Ω3\Omega is x3A\dfrac{x}{3}A. The value of xx is ________.

Show answer and solution

Answer: 1

Let the current flowing through the circuit be
IAIA in anti-clockwise direction.
The net resistance is
R=4.5Ω+2Ω+1.5Ω=8ΩR=4.5\Omega +2\Omega +1.5\Omega =8\Omega
Hence,
I=VR=4V8Ω=0.5AI=\dfrac{V}{R}=\dfrac{4V}{8\Omega }=0.5A

The current flowing through the
3Ω3\Omega resistor is
66+3×0.5=13A\dfrac{6}{6+3}\times 0.5=\dfrac{1}{3}A
So,
x=1x=1
