Question 193 of 380

For the circuit shown, with R1=1.0Ω{R}_{1}=1.0\Omega , R2=2.0Ω{R}_{2}=2.0\Omega , E1=2V{E}_{1}=2V and E2=E3=4V,{E}_{2}={E}_{3}=4V, the potential difference between the points ‘a’‘a’ and ‘b’‘b’ is approximately ( inVinV ):

Show answer and solution

Answer: (A) 3.33.3

If the electric potential at point
aa is Va{V}_{a} and the electric potential at point bb is Vb{V}_{b} then
Vb−Va=22+42+4212+12+12{V}_{b}-{V}_{a}=\dfrac{\dfrac{2}{2}+\dfrac{4}{2}+\dfrac{4}{2}}{\dfrac{1}{2}+\dfrac{1}{2}+\dfrac{1}{2}}
Vb−Va=1+2+232=103{V}_{b}-{V}_{a}=\dfrac{1+2+2}{\dfrac{3}{2}}=\dfrac{10}{3}
∴Vb−Va=3.3V∴{V}_{b}-{V}_{a}=3.3V
