Question 281 of 380

A wire of resistance RR is bent into a triangular pyramid as shown in figure with each segment having same length. The resistance between points AA and BB is R/nR / n. The value of nn is :

Show answer and solution

Answer: (D) 12

As r=R6r=\frac{R}{6}

(As balanced wheat stone bridge is formed) Now, Equivalent resistance between A and B can be written as

1RAB=12r+12r+1r=2r\frac{1}{\mathrm{R}_{\mathrm{AB}}}=\frac{1}{2 \mathrm{r}}+\frac{1}{2 \mathrm{r}}+\frac{1}{\mathrm{r}}=\frac{2}{\mathrm{r}}
RAB=R12\mathrm{R}_{\mathrm{AB}}=\frac{\mathrm{R}}{12}
