Current Electricity

JEE Main level, single correct, medium

Question 329 of 380

The reading in the ideal voltmeter (V)\left(V\right) shown in the given circuit diagram is:

Show answer and solution

Answer: (C) 0V0V

As the voltmeter is idea, no current will flow through it. Therefore, considering left loop, we can write

i=Eeqreq=8×58×0.2i=\dfrac{{E}_{eq}}{{r}_{eq}}=\dfrac{8\times 5}{8\times 0.2}
⇒I=25A\Rightarrow I=25A
Now, potential drop across the cell which is connected in parallel with Voltmeter,

V=E−irV=E-ir
=5−0.2×25=5-0.2\times 25
=0V=0V
